The District Panchayat has prepared a blueprint of its financial plan for the coming fiscal.

It was presented at a district-level development seminar here on Monday.

The draft of the 2014-15 Budget, presented by Standing Committee Chairperson on Development T.K. Thankamani for joint discussions, proposed to spend Rs.110 crore during the term.

Special funds would be set apart for the development of infrastructure at the District Hospital in Vadakara and schemes for the welfare of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe communities in the district.

The next fiscal, as per the blueprint, would witness the construction of a new office building for the District Panchayat. Along with this, the development of a hi-tech dairy farm at Koothali and the renovation of the existing regional poultry farm at Chathamangalam, too, would be considered.

Other plans

Other plans stated in the draft included upgrading the existing facilities in various high school and higher secondary schools in the district. Encouragement of paddy farming through various promotional schemes would also be a priority area.

M.K. Raghavan, MP, inaugurated the development seminar. District panchayat president Kanathil Jameela, vice president R. Sasi, members P.G. George, K.P. Sheeba and C.V.M. Najma, were present. The programme also honoured the winners of Rashtriya Ekta Award.
