The play Deergha Chathuram (Rectangle)scripted anddirected by Soorya Krishnamoorthy will be staged under the aegis of the Department of Social Justice at the Town Hall in the city at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
This is the first time it is being staged in Kozhikode, said Mr. Krishnamoorthy at a press conference along with other organisers of the event here on Wednesday.
The play explores the possibilities of new theatre techniques on stage, he said.
Entry to the hall, which is free, will be restricted five minutes before the start of the play, owing to the peculiar nature of the play, said the organisers. Deergha Chathuram, which takes place in the backdrop of a set of a reality show on a television channel, will be a play with a ‘very significant social message,’ Mr. Krishnamoorthy said.
The cultural forum KALA is presenting the play.
It has already been staged in over 40 venues including in neighbouring states, said the organisers.
