With malaria and cholera cases being reported from migrant labourer camps in the district, the Kozhikode Municipal Corporation organised a health camp for labourers on Sunday.

More than 650 migrants attended the camp. They underwent the multi-level testing offered under the aegis of Government Medical College, Government Dental College, and District Vector Control Unit. Students of Government Nursing College also pitched in to ensure the smooth conduct of the camp.

The participants were examined in detail by specialists. As many as 275 samples were taken from those suspected of malaria, while 50 samples were taken for HIV test, and all of them had negative results.

Health cards with a validity of six months were distributed to all participants. The cardholders will get priority for two weeks at the Government Medical College, if they needed any further consultations. Medicines were also supplied free of cost at the camp.

Earlier, corporation development standing committee chairman P.C. Rajan opened the camp. Councillors Anitha Rajan, Asha Sasankan, and Kattadathu Hajara were present.
