There was mild tension when the police stopped a march taken out by the district committee of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) in front of the City Police Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday. No one was injured in the skirmishes.

The march sought the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the solar scam.

The police was informed that the march would move towards the office of the Deputy Director of Education (DDE).

The force was deployed there in strength. But the protesters, who started from the Krishna Pillai mandiram, moved to the Commissioner’s office which was virtually unprotected. The police but managed to stop the protestors.

AIYF State joint secretary Mahesh Kakkath said the Chief Minister should relinquish his post as his involvement in the solar scam had been ‘proved beyond doubt.’ A protest meeting was presided over by AIYF district president Ajay Aavala.
