The police have registered a case against Karat Razak, Koduvally MLA, on the charge of beating up activists of the Muslim Students Federation during the course of a protest here recently.

The MLA has been accused of roughing up students on the campus of K.M.O. Arts College, Koduvally. A private news channel had aired closed-circuit television footage of the incident. The police reportedly decided to register a case against him under sections 341 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code after examining the footage. The students were protesting against the MLA accusing him of siphoning off funds allocated for the construction of the college auditorium.

Meanwhile, another case has also been filed against the students for obstructing the path of the MLA.
