Assam team to study Kudumbasree model

A 26-member delegation from Assam, which arrived in the city on Tuesday, was accorded a grand welcome at the Collector’s chamber here.

The delegation is in the city to learn more about the convergence of Kudumbasree with the local self-government as part of a memorandum of understanding between the two States. District Collector C. A. Latha and Kudumbasree district coordinator K. K. Muhammed Faisal welcomed the delegation.

The delegation led by Deepa Hara, a block panchayat president, consists of several block panchayat members, grama panchayat presidents and panchayat members.

Two groups

The delegation will split into two groups and will undergo training in the modes of convergence at Panangad and Chemancheri grama panchayats in the coming days.

At the Collectorate, Mr. Faisal explained various activities of Kudumbasree and the unique spheres the Mission is involved in like the e-shop, home shop, She Taxi and Kudumbasree Cafes.

The Collector said that Kudumbasree was the biggest collective of women in Asia and was a model for the whole world for its role in social and financial empowerment of women.

A few members of the delegation explained the situation in Assam and raised some doubts about various aspects of the Mission.

The delegation will leave for Assam on July 8.
