A slew of programmes including completing existing projects, inaugurating new schemes, commissioning of an industrial estate, and organising a seminar in decentralisation will mark the fourth anniversary celebrations of the Kozhikode district panchayat.
Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry K.P. Mohanan will officially inaugurate the celebrations here on Friday. The district panchayat has so far spent Rs.57.89 crore out of total allotted funds of Rs.128.54 crore this fiscal.
The local body had made remarkable achievements in several sectors such as dairy farming, paddy-banana cultivation, education, health, housing, and transportation, said district panchayat president Kannathil Jameela.
High-tech framing was started in about 100 acres agriculture farm at Koothali. Breeding of cows at dairy farms and hatching of 30,000 eggs a week at poultry farms were significant achievements, Ms. Jameela said. More than 100 classrooms were constructed in high schools and higher secondary schools in the district.
