An education workshop organised under the aegis of the district panchayat has decided to adopt measures to better the SSLC results in the district this year through the Vijayolsavam project.

The workshop, attended by district-level conveners of the scheme here on Saturday, decided to plan different programmes to enable at least 50 per cent of students in Class X to achieve A+ in all subjects in the SSLC examination.

As part of achieving this goal, A+ Clubs would be formed in each class, said K.K. Sivadasan, district panchayat education standing committee coordinator.

Steps would also be taken to engage guest teachers in different disciplines for students. “Individual teachers will also be given charge of the A+ Clubs,” Mr. Sivadasan said. Special training at the school and district-levels would be given to those students who were found to be backward in studies.

Awareness sessions

“Awareness and orientation sessions will also be conducted for parents,” he said.

District panchayat president Kanathil Jameela inaugurated the workshop. Education standing committee chairperson K.P. Sheeba presided. Deputy Director of Education Gireesh Cholayil, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) senior lecturer P. Sivadasan, and senior education consultant Balachandran Parachottil, among others, spoke on the occasion.
