Offering around 7,000 jobs, the third regional edition of the Niyukthi job fair will be held at the Malabar Christian College here on Saturday. Labour Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan will inaugurate the fair being hosted by the National Employment Service Department.
District Employment Officer K.S. Aswin Kumar says the job fair is expected to draw the participation of 94 leading employers from various parts of the country. So far, 11,370 candidates from northern Kerala districts have registered their names to attend the fair, he adds.
Spot registration will be allowed on Saturday as the number of queries has been found increasing ever since the declaration of the fest. The service of around 200 Employment Department officials will be sought for the event. The State government has already sanctioned ₹4 lakh to conduct the programme.
Mr. Kumar says the job fair is proving to be a golden opportunity for several unemployed youths who wish to build their career in the private sector. “Within the past two years, we managed to provide job opportunity for around 20,000 youths through the Niyukthi fest,” he adds.
