: At a time when infighting within the State-unit of the party has come out in the open, the BJP on Saturday dispelled speculations of any change of guard in the West Bengal unit of the party.
Speaking to journalists, party’s national secretary Sidharth Nath Singh said during the day that the same State office bearers would lead the party in 2016 Assembly elections making it clear that State BJP president Rahul Sinha would lead the party in the next Assembly polls.
“I want to assure you that the State leadership is not going anywhere. I am not going anywhere until the 2016 Assembly elections,” Mr. Singh said.
Clashes between different factions of BJP supporters were seen earlier this week outside the State BJP headquarters making it clear that dissent against the existing State leadership was brewing. For two successive days, BJP supporters clashed with each other over nomination of candidates in the upcoming municipal polls in West Bengal.
On Saturday, Mr. Singh said that the State BJP president has also been included in the team that would monitor the work of party leaders in charge of seven clusters into which the BJP had divided Bengal for organisational convenience.
Apart from Mr. Sinha, Mr. Singh, party MP S.S. Ahluwalia and senior BJP leader Amalendu Chatterjee will be part of this team.
