Targeting the higher ups in the All India Trinamool Congress once again, suspended party MP Kunal Ghosh on Monday reiterated that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was the biggest beneficiary of the media companies which were run by the Saradha group.
Mr Ghosh made these charges during proceedings before a city Court.
“If anyone has derived most benefit from Saradha Media, then it is the Chief Minister,” Mr Ghosh said in the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate Arvind Mishra. In September 2014, Mr Ghosh had made similar allegations.
In the court he made claims that he can provide specific information to the CBI in connection with the multi-crore Sardha scam.
“I have specific information, I can provide this if I am questioned by the CBI,” Mr Ghosh said.
The Rajya Sabha MP has been behind the bars since November 2013 after the West Bengal police in connection arrested him for his involvement in the Saradha scam.
In the court, Mr Ghosh also referred to the different set of rules for those arrested in connection with the scam.
In an indirect reference to the State Transport Minister Madan Mitra arrested in connection with the scam by the CBI, Mr Ghosh said that while there are a set of rules for one category of people, for him it is different.
“I am in jail, while someone else is in hotel.” Mr Ghosh added. Soon after the CBI custody of Mr Mitra ended he has admitted to a state-run hospital raising questions about the decision.
After the proceedings of the Court, CBI counsel Partha Sarathi Dutta said that Court has asked investigation officer in this case to record Mr Ghosh’s statement.
