Felicitating students, who ranked in the State class X and class XII board examinations, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee here on Tuesday urged them to adhere to four Ds (discipline, dedication, devotion, and determination) for success in life.

The Chief Minister, who tried to speak to each of the 82 students (43 of class X and 28 of class XII) at an event organised in the Town Hall, urged them to remain ‘positive and constructive in life’. “You are free to choose disciplines for higher studies, but must try to be outstanding human beings and assets of the country,” Ms. Banerjee said.

During the event organised by the State government, the rank holders were given gifts like laptop and books. The Chief Minister listened to songs and recitation of poetry from the students.

“The current generation of students are the future of the country. I am sure they will make the country proud,” she said.

“When we were students, there was nobody to guide us. Opportunities and resources the students have these days are much more than they were in yesteryear.”
