Over 100 members of Tamil Puligal Katchi, a Dalit organisation, were arrested on Monday when they blocked road near the Collectorate assailing the State Government for “failure” to provide panchami land to beneficiaries.

The protesters, including 45 women, raised slogans demanding submission of a report on the status of panchami land sought by High Court without delay. The speakers included A. Sabapathy, State deputy general secretary of the organisation.

District unit secretary of the organisation, R. Sinthanaiselvan, who led the protest, said panchami land to the extent of 90,000 acres in Erode will bring about socio-economic transformation in the lives of one lakh Dalit families.
