Woman succumbs to burn injuries

A septuagenarian succumbed to burn injuries on Saturday after she was attacked on the face with an inflammable solution.

Police sources said that Krishnaveni (70), who was a flower seller at Vadapalani and a resident of Kodambakkam, owed lease money to Jamuna Devi, a resident of Coimbatore.

Jamuna Devi met Krishnaveni on Friday and asked for the money. When Krishnaveni refused to give it, Jamuna threw an inflammable liquid on her face. Krishnaveni sustained serious injuries on her face and was rushed to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.

The police have arrested Jamuna Devi and are carrying out further investigations.
