A real estate broker from Choolai allegedly hacked a 22-year-old woman to death in her house at Perambur on Sunday. Sources with the Sembium police said the murder occurred around 9.45 p.m. when the deceased, Anurekha, an MBA graduate, was with her friend, Thyagarajan (26), at her home on Thiruvalluvar Street, Ramana Nagar in Perambur. The accused, Thiyagu alias Thiyagarajan (25) of Pappiah Street in Choolai, was assisting Anurekha's mother, Devi, in real estate business. Thiyagu liked Anurekha and had approached Devi to get her married to him. She turned down his request. Sembium police have launched a hunt for Thiagu.
