Woman dies as ambulance arrives late

A 25-year-old woman who met with an accident near Tiruvidanthai died as the ambulance arrived two hours late, her relatives alleged.

Police said Nagooran, 30, of Kanathur Reddikuppam, his wife Kuppulakshmi, 25, and six other family members went to a village festival near Kadampadi near Kalpakkam. While they were returning in a share auto, the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned near Tiruvidanthai village on East Coast Road (ECR). Kuppulakshmi and three others were grievously injured. Her right leg was crushed and she lost a lot of blood..

Police sources said even though the call was made to 108 ambulance service immediately, the van reached the spot only two hours later. In the meantime, she fainted. She was admitted to a private hospital where her leg was amputated. But she died.
