A vehicle maintenance garage has been causing hardship to residents of B.B. Road and Perambur High Road. The garage, located at the junction of B.B. Road-Perambur High Road, creates traffic bottlenecks in the locality, as garbage trucks and heavy vehicles belonging to the Chennai Corporation were brought for repair works and parked along the margins of both the roads affecting motorists, residents complained.

They also said most of them found it difficult to even take their out vehicles from their own homes owing to this issue.

Pointing to a garbage truck parked outside his house along with many other vehicles on Perambur High Road, R. Madhan, a resident said that the particular truck had been parked at the same place for many years and the traffic police have not taken any steps to remove it.

Two more trucks were parked there for a long time but were moved out after the intervention of senior corporation officials a couple of years ago, residents said.

Being a bus route road, B.B. Road is used by Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses and school vans that traverse the road everyday.

However, traffic comes to a standstill during peak hours as the parked vehicles take up most of the space causing congestion and traffic jams. T. Mahesh, a resident of B.B. Road, said parking vehicles on the Perambur High Road gives cover to people to carry out anti-social activities during the night and also dump garbage during the day.

The residents of the locality are uncertain whether the owners of the garage have the mandatory traders license required to run the garage or an authorisation from the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) as the garage is also a source of noise pollution in the area.
