Bhoomi pooja for laying new roads was performed last weekend in Kovilambakkam and Nanmangalam village panchayats. A sum of Rs. 53 lakhs will be spent on forming 12 streets in the two panchayats.
C. Rajendran, South Chennai Lok Sabha MP, took part in the bhoomi pooja at LIC Nagar in Kovilambakkam along with K.P. Kandan, Sholinganallur MLA and C. Manimaran, former Panchayat Union Councillor.
A sum of Rs. 23 lakhs from the constituency development funds of Mr. Rajendran will be spent on forming the roads in LIC Nagar in Kovilambakkam. Already, a sum of Rs. 15 lakhs has been spent from the MP’s constituency development funds for building a community hall and another Rs. 30 lakhs on creating new roads in MGR Nagar, Mr. Manimaran said. At Nanmangalam, Rs. 30 lakhs would be spent on forming cement concrete roads in Abhinandan Nagar. Selvarani Sundar, president of Nanmangalam Village Panchayat, said that here too, the amount had been sourced from his constituency development funds.
Panchayat Union Chairman N.C. Krishnan was also present.
