Views of public to be sought on Police Bill

The first meeting of the Select Committee on the State Police Bill held on Monday decided to invite the views of the public on the Bill.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and attended by members of the committee, including AIADMK MLAs O. Panneerselvam, K.A. Sengottaiyan, D. Jayakumar, Congress Legislature Party leader D. Sudarssanam, CPI leader in the House V. Sivapunniyam, Home Secretary S. Malathi, DGP Letika Saran, Assembly Secretary M. Selvaraj, Law Secretary S. Dheenadayalan and Deputy Chief Minister's secretary Deenabandhu.

“It will be put up on the internet and the public can send their views to the Assembly Secretary. After receiving the opinions, the committee will have a detailed discussion with the department officials,” officials told The Hindu .
