A van that was on its way to Chennai went up in flames and was completely destroyed near Mahindra IT City near Chengalpattu on GST Road on Sunday. Police said the van, belonging to a travel agency in Tiruvanmiyur, was driven by Shahul Hameed.

A total of 13 people were travelling in the vehicle. Near Mahindra IT City, smoke emanated from the engine of the vehicle.

The driver stopped the vehicle immediately and all the passengers got down. A fire broke out and the vehicle was completely gutted. A fire tender from Chengalpattu reached the spot and put out the flames. No one was hurt, police sources added.
