Around 200 volunteers came together to paint the walls of the 25,000 square feet Valluvar Kottam.
The event, Paint-A-Thon, organised by Nippon Paint (India), and Thuvakkam, a city based non-profit organisation, aimed at cleaning up the area around the site. The 32-hour-long event started on Friday and will continue till Sunday morning.
Approximately 200 litres of paint and painting tools were supplied to paint the walls of the 41-year-old monument.
Speaking about the initiative, Mahesh. S. Anand, president- decorative business, Nippon Paint India, said: “This initiative is important because it involves embracing Tamil culture and contributing to society.”
Krishna Kumar S., founder, Thuvakkam, said: “We wanted to do our part in revamping the place, an iconic representation of world-renowned poet Thiruvalluvar.”
