Two persons were arrested by the Guindy police in connection with the death of two migrant labourers from Odisha at a construction site in Little Mount. The labourers lost their lives when hollow blocks stacked on the sixth floor of a newly-constructed hospital building fell on them.

The construction of an eight-storeyed building was under progress off Anna Salai. While a few labourers were stacking the hollow blocks on the sixth floor, another group of labourers were removing sand and stone on the ground floor. Suddenly, the blocks fell on them.

Three injured labourers were taken to the Government Royapettah Hospital, where Brindavan (24) and his brother Sadasiva (19) of Odisha, succumbed to injuries. The Guindy Police registered a case under Section 304 (A) (causing death due to negligence) of the IPC.

On Saturday morning, the police arrested Venkatesh (38), contractor, and Yogesh (25), the site engineer.
