You don’t mess around with the taste of the traditional filter coffee. But if you do, , it better turn out to be a great brew.
Kaapicheenu, located in Alwarpet and ECR, took that risk and added a drink called Chillffee to their menu. And oh yes, it tastes good.
“It is basically the traditional filter coffee served cold. But, it is not just filter coffee decoction mixed in cold milk. There is a different recipe that we follow, which we came up with after a series of experiments and thankfully, it has worked,” says Manu Srinivas V., who calls himself Chief Customer Delight, at Kaapicheenu.
He says that he didn’t want a regualar boring designation. “It’s a youthful brand and not just another outlet that sells traditional South Indian snacks. Also, we aim for customer delight more than customer satisfaction.
After completing his MBA from MICA, Ahmedabad, Manu Srinivas had a short stint in a motor company, which he quit to follow his true calling – start a business that celebrates coffee. He started Kaapicheenu in September 2012 with a kiosk in Alwarpet.
The idea was to give to people the traditional drink with a twist. “We serve the traditional coffee along with regular onion and chilli bajjis . That apart, we also serve paneer bajji . We are will soon launch a new snack called Tuckerr Pav, which is our take on the popular snack vada paav . We are also trying to experiment experimenting with the flavour. For instance, we include Chinese spices for certain dishes,” he says.
After receiving good feedback for its food, the café opened its second outlet on East Cost Road. “It’s like a shack on the highway. Located close to Dakshin Chitra, it is the perfect place to relax and grab a quick bite after a long drive,” he says. He adds that this venture couldn’t have been complete without the support of Oho Productions.
The food here is affordable and one has to spend less than Rs. 150.
Apart from the two outlets, they have recently signed up with IT parks to cater to the corporate segment.
