Have you ever been curious about how the products you use every day are made or where they come from?

Here is a television show that promises to take viewers on an interesting journey behind the origins of various products.

Edhu Enge Eppadi , a new show on Makkal TV on Sunday evenings, unfolds the secrets behind the manufacturing of products and gives first-hand information on their place of origin.

The first episode was centred on Chidambaram’s gold-covering jewellery industry, the new techniques used and marketing strategies.

The 30-minute programme also contains fascinating titbits.

The next episodes will feature kaili or lungi , largely manufactured in Kumarapalayam near Erode, followed by the brass and silver articles of Kumbakonam.

The show’s director, R. Subash Chandrabose, says, “We wanted to produce a programme that is informative and entertaining for viewers. We also present the history behind the products. For instance, lungi was invented by Burmese Muslims and passed on to Tamil Nadu. My travelling experience has helped me in bringing out this show.”

The show will be motivating for entrepreneurs and students looking out for career opportunities as well, he says.
