The Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Road Safety Coordination Committee has planned to organise a one-day strike across the State on September 2 against the Central government’s Road Safety and Transport Bill 2015.
The committee, an umbrella organisation of various private transport unions, at a meeting held here recently, wanted the Centre to take back the Bill, which they said was anti-people.
R. Sukumar, president of the committee, said the Bill, if passed, would cause severe hardship to the common man and smaller transport operators. It would wipe out commercial establishments engaged in registration and the issue of fitness certificates .
