The Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) officials have assured people who have been relocated to Perumbakkam and Gudapakkam tenements that adequate arrangements will be made to transport children to schools.

Senior officials said that they are compiling a database of children of families relocated to the tenements so that they can arrange buses accordingly.

“We have requested residents to cooperate and provide us with the required details so that we can give the list to MTC. We will also be giving them free bus passes,” said the official. The officials have so far identified around 150 children studying in various private schools across the city, including the Sacred Heart Girls High School, Church Park, Assumption Higher Secondary School, Nungambakkam.

“We have also made a list of schools the children are studying in and have spoken to the authorities there. We want to ensure that all children are able to perform well in their upcoming half yearly exams,” the official added.
