Students should sing in praise of Kamaraj: Ramadoss

July 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - CHENNAI:

Invoking the suggestion of Periyar, PMK founder S. Ramadoss has said that schools in Tamil Nadu should “sing in praise of Kamaraj instead praying to God” to celebrate the birth anniversary of late leader on Thursday.

“It is not enough to just celebrate his birthday as ‘Educational Development Day’. He started 27,000 schools in Tamil Nadu and began the noon-meal scheme. At present, the government schools are being systematically dismantled giving a perception that private schools are better than public schools. This sorry state of education in Tamil Nadu should change,” the PMK leader said in a statement here on Wednesday.

He said “Periyar’s wish was that songs be sung in praise of Kamaraj in schools instead of prayer to God. The government must issue an order to this effect,” he said.
