Students interact with ambassador in Japanese

Group of 15 youth, mostly from southern Tamil Nadu, to travel to Japan for training

Japanese Ambassador to India Kenji Hiramatsu interacted with a group of Indian youth selected under the ‘Technical Intern Training Program’ by the Japan International Training Cooperation Organisation (JITCO) here on Friday.

A group of 15 students, who underwent training at Nihon Technology, shared their experiences and spoke about the programme that they would be attending in Japan soon.

The training programme offered by Nihon Technology in association with the CII is part of a Memorandum of Cooperation signed between India and Japan.

The youngsters, mostly from southern Tamil Nadu, will be working with companies in Japan after an initial period of training. They interacted with the Ambassador in Japanese.

First batch

Japan-based Nihon Technology provided language and cultural training to the youngsters who are mostly diploma holders. This will be the first batch of students who will go to Japan. They all have completed N5 level in Japanese and will soon be taking up N4 and N3 levels, representatives of the company said. “The youth will travel to Japan as early as possible. We are waiting for the visa process to be completed,” a representative said.

Mr. Hiramatsu called on Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the Secretariat here on Friday. Consul General of Japan in Chennai Kojiro Uchiyama was present during the meeting.
