DMK treasurer and Kolathur MLA M.K. Stalin has moved the Madras High Court seeking a direction to authorities to disburse welfare schemes to 406 applicants from his constituency.

When the matter came up for hearing, the Government Pleader sought time to get instructions and the case was posted for July 22.

Mr. Stalin in his plea alleged that various civic works in the constituency under the MLA Development Fund have not been carried out, Also, pension for 406 applicants from his constituency has not been sanctioned.

“Out of the Rs. six crore allotted from the MLA fund, a sum of Rs. 4.76 crore worth works in the constituency are yet to be executed,” he said.

Observing that respondent’s “indifference attitude” even in distributing welfare schemes was “highly disturbing”, he said that he forwarded the applications to 406 applicants for benefits under various schemes of the government.

“It is most appalling that the executive machinery of the government of Tamil Nadu is explicitly behaving in a partisan manner, which is evident from the present case wherein the application on the subject is not being considered by the respondents for the only reason that these applicants are from a constituency represented by an Opposition party,” Mr. Stalin stated.

He further sought for a direction to the authorities to disburse the welfare schemes to 406 applicants as per a Government Order dated April 17 issued by the Department of Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme
