The B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering programme offered by the SRM University has got accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), U.S.
The university would apply for ABET accreditation for its other engineering programmes such as mechanical, computer science, IT and biotech.
The international accreditation helps universities and colleges set new standards in quality and in stimulating innovation in different fields, SRM University Vice-Chancellor P.Sathyanarayanan said here on Thursday.
“The university will also seek accreditation for its management programme from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). We also propose to start a law college,” he told media persons.
Campus placements
Mr.Sathyanarayanan announced that the campus placement for this year has started with 1,091 students from different branches of the university getting placed with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.
“Last year 128 companies came for campus recruitment and this year we are planning to bring 175,” he said.
