Southern Railway will operate EMU services from Chennai Beach on Sunday to facilitate passengers to board mainline express trains which are to depart from Arakkonam and Tiruvallur in view of the closure of Chennai Central station for 12 hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday (December 13) for undertaking developmental works.

EMU AJJ 2 will leave Chennai Beach at 1 p.m. to connect Chennai - Mangalore West Coast Express at Arakkonam leaving at 3.10; EMU TRT 4 will leave Beach at 4 p.m. to connect Tirupati Express at Arakkonam leaving at 6.10 p.m.; EMU TRT 3 will leave Beach at 2 p.m. to connect Hubli Express at Tiruvallur leaving at 3.50 p.m.; and EMU TRL 5 will leave Beach at 2.35 p.m. will connect Thiruvananthapuram Express at Tiruvallur leaving at 4.10 p.m.

The following will be the pattern of EMU services:

Moore Market Complex: There will be no change in service towards Avadi, Pattabiram Military Siding, Tiruvallur, Kadambattur, Arakkonam and Tiruttani and towards Ponneri, Gummidipundi and Sullurupetta up to 9 a.m. and from 8.45 p.m. From 9.05 a.m. to 8.45 p.m. no EMU services will be operated from MMC.

Chennai Beach: No change in service towards Avadi, Tiruvallur, Kadambattur, Arakkonam and Tiruttani

up to 9.35 a.m. and 8.25 p.m. Services will be from Chennai Beach to Tiruvallur/ Avadi/ Arakkonam and Tiruttani from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at one hour interval for the convenience of passengers.

Other changes: Train no. 190/189 Renigunta – Moore Market Complex passenger will be partially cancelled between Avadi and MMC on both directions.

Passengers who have booked and hold tickets from Chennai Central are permitted to travel from Chennai Egmore or Chennai Beach and towards Perambur, Avadi, Tiruvallur and Arakkonam on the same authority. Similarly, passengers holding tickets towards Chennai Central and who have got down en route are permitted to travel in EMU trains up to Chennai Beach or Chennai Egmore, according to an official press release.
