Sheela Balakrishnan to continue as adviser to govt.

: The government has retained the services of Ms. Sheela Balakrishnan, who was in March 2014 appointed as adviser to the Government following her superannuation as Chief Secretary. Earlier last week, IAS officer Jayashree Muralidharan was appointed Additional Secretary in the CMO.

Consequent to these changes, the government also shuffled some other senior IAS officers. Pradeep Yadav, who was holding the post of Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, was transferred and posted as Principal Secretary, Department of Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection. Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi has been transferred and posted as Agricultural Secretary and Agricultural Production Commissioner, a post additionally held by Dr Vijayakumar. Mr. Bedi will also hold additional charge as Secretary of the Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Department.

Environment and Forests Department Principal Secretary, Hans Raj Varma, has been posted as the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department Principal Secretary. Commissioner of Revenue Administration Atulya Misra has been transferred and given charge of the Departments previously handled by Mr Varma.
