Ten passengers were injured after a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus toppled over in the early hours of Monday near Neelangarai.

According to police, the SETC bus was coming from Velankanni and headed towards Chennai. The driver of the bus was Periyasamy (35) and the conductor Anthony Raj (30).

Around 5 a.m., when the bus reached Kanathur near Neelangarai, it hit a sign board. It also hit a load autorickshaw in which Muthumalai (37), a resident of Kanathur, was headed towards Koyambedu. Then it toppled over and ran into the entrance of a hotel.

Ten passengers were injured and rushed to a private hospital. They were treated as outpatients and sent home.
