Science expo on health and wellness

A science exhibition on ‘Health and Wellness’ was conducted in P.S. SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, MYLAPORE, commemorating Sir. C.V. Raman’s birthday that falls on February 28. Dr. Bhuvaneswari Shankar, Head of the Department of Dietics, Apollo Hospital, inaugurated the exhibition on February 15 and 16, and shared her views about the importance of proper diet.

Ms. Lakshmi Srinivasan, principal, welcomed the chief guest and stressed on the importance of ‘Eating Right’. Students from Class I to VIII participated.

Innovative exhibits, models, charts, aerobics, street play, puppet shows, and power point presentations were shown, on themes such as fitness, balanced diet, knowing our body, personal hygiene safety at home and school, disaster management, lifestyle diseases. Master. Aravinthakshan of Class VII explained in detail about the cyclone, its impact and disaster management. Ms. Niharika of Class V narrated the importance of balanced diet. A recipe competition was also held for the parents of higher classes and the best 10 was short-listed. Stalls were arranged to display the dish and the receipe. Children of Class V demonstrated aerobics and importance of first-aid. Ms. Chithra Narayan extended the vote of thanks.
