After the sweltering heat, the city is likely to experience a few spells of rain in the next two days.

Meteorologists have predicted that some parts of the city may experience rain in the next 48 hours. “There is a cloud convection, which is likely to cause scattered rainfall in some parts,” said an official from the Regional Meteorological Department. Experts predict that other parts of the State could experience scattered showers too.

“The sky is likely to be partly cloudy. Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in some areas in the evening or night for the next 48 hours,” said the official.

On Tuesday, the city experienced a maximum temperature of 40.4 degree Celsius in Nungambakkam and 40.5 degree Celsius in Meenambakkam, a departure of 2.3 and 1.4 degree Celsius from normal, respectively. The maximum and minimum temperature for the next two days is likely to be around 40 and 30 degree Celsius respectively.

Rain or thundershowers may occur during the next 48 hours, officials said
