Since June, the 12C is plying on a different route. Over the past three decades, 12C had been plying on a route that originated at the MTC terminus on Kamaraj Salai in Saligramam went through West Mambalam, South Boag Road, South East Boag Road, Defence Quarters, Adyar Gate, Mandaveli and ended at Mylapore.
Now, as per the new route, 12C will start at CMBT (Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus) in Koyambedu, go through Kaliamman Koil Street in Chimmiya Nagar, Reddy Street and AVM Colony in Virugambakkam before reaching Saligramam; from there, the corresponding section of the old route is followed.
Now, the terminus on Kamaraj Salai in Saligramam just serves as a stop for 12C.
Residents from Saligramam seek the restoration of previous route of 12C as they consider it more convenient.
“The 12C service has been the pride of Saligramam. It received good patronage from residents of Saligramam. So, MTC should consider restoring the previous route of Saligramam,” says S. Mahalakshmi, a resident.
