Residents report shocks from streetlights after rain

Sudden spells of rain were reported in several parts of the city on Thursday. Rain was reported in areas such as Nungambakkam, Triplicane, Royapettah and Mylapore.

On Thursday, the weather observatory in Nungambakkam recorded 2 mm rainfall while Meenambakkam recorded 0.4 mm rainfall.

Following the rain in the afternoon, several residents reported electric shocks caused by faulty streetlights of Chennai Corporation in bus routes and interior roads. Corporation officials said the problem of streetlights reported through Corporation helpline 1913 during the rains were rectified on the same day in all such neighbourhoods.

Minor stagnation of water was also reported in a few neighbourhoods near Anna Salai.

The sky is likely to be partly cloudy on Friday.
