Chennai City Traffic Police has announced changes in vehicular traffic on Kamarajar Salai as part of the rehearsals for Republic Day and the celebrations.
The temporary arrangement will be in place on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and on Sunday, Republic Day, for a few hours in the morning.
According to an official press release, the stretch of Kamarajar Salai from Light House to War Memorial will remain closed for vehicular traffic from 6.00 a.m. till the rehearsal or programme is over.
Adyar-BroadwayDrivers of commercial vehicles coming from Adyar and intending to proceed towards Broadway on Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Greenways Point towards R.K. Mutt Road, V.K. Iyer Road, Devanathan Street, St. Mary’s Road, R.K. Mutt Road, Luz Junction, Luz Church Road, Karpagambal Nagar, Sivasamy Salai, Royapettah High Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Smith Road and Anna Salai to reach Broadway.
MTC busesOther vehicles including MTC buses plying from Adyar intending to proceed towards Broadway on Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Santhome High Road - Kutchery Road Junction towards Kutchery Road.
These vehicles will go via Kutchery Road, Luz junction, Luz Church Road, Karpagambal Nagar, Sivasamy Salai, Royapettah High Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Smith Road and Anna Salai in order to reach Broadway.
MTC buses (route number 27D) passing through Dr. Radha Krishnan Salai and intending to proceed towards Gandhi Statue will be diverted at Dr. R.K. Salai - V.M. Street junction towards V.M. Street and other vehicles should use Royapettah High Road, Luz Junction, R.K. Mutt Road, Mandaveli Junction, South Canal Bank Road and Srinivasapuram to reach Foreshore Estate.
MTC buses (route number 21G) coming from Luz junction and intending to proceed towards Gandhi Statue will be diverted at Royapettah High Road flyover.
The drivers should go via Royapettah High Road, Roypettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Smith Road and Anna Salai to reach Broadway.
MTC buses (route number 12G and 45B) coming from Luz junction and intending to proceed towards Gandhi Statue will be diverted at Royapettah High Road Flyover.
Drivers should use Royapettah High Road, Roypettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Smith Road, Anna Salai and Walajah Road to reach Anna Square.
Dr. R.K. Salai - Dr. Natesan Road junctionNo vehicle will be allowed beyond Dr. R.K. Salai - Dr. Natesan Road junction towards Gandhi statue but will be diverted towards Dr. Natesan Road. No vehicle will be allowed beyond Dr. Natesan Road - Avvai Shanmugam Salai junction towards Kamarajar Salai but will be diverted towards Ice House junction.
No vehicle will be allowed beyond Dr. Besant Road - Dr. Kamarajar Salai junction towards Kamarajar Salai but will be diverted at Dr. Besant Road roundtana towards Ice House junction.
No vehicle will be allowed beyond Bharathi Salai - Bells Road junction towards Kamarajar Salai but will be diverted towards Bells Road. No vehicle will be allowed beyond Wallajah Road - Bells Road junction (except MTC buses) towards Kamarajar Salai but will be diverted towards Bells Road. M.T.C. Buses will be allowed upto Canal Bank Road junction only.
Anna Square bus terminusThe Anna Square bus terminus will be temporarily operating from Wallajah Road near government guest house when the regulations are in place.
Vehicles coming from Parry’s Corner and intending to proceed towards Adyar will be diverted at RBI subway (north) towards Raja Annamalai Mandram.
Drivers should use Muthuswamy Point, Wallajah Point, Anna Salai, Anna Statue, General Patters Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, American Consulate service road, Cathedral Road, Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Dr. Natesan Road, Karaneeswarar Pagoda Street and Santhome High Road to reach Adyar. No vehicle will be allowed from Wallajah Point towards War Memorial.
