Red sander logs seized in Chennai

Red sander logs worth Rs. 2.34 crores were seized by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials in two separate raids and one person arrested.

Based on intelligence, DRI officials intercepted a lorry on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday and carried out thorough examination which resulted in the recovery of red sanders totally wighing 6.3 tons worth Rs. 74 lakhs, a DRI release in Chennai said on Thursday.

Lorry driver was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

In another case, DRI slueths seized red sanders logs totally weighing 13,590 tones worth Rs. 1.6 crores stored inside a room at Thiruneermalai area.
