Members of the Indian National Real Estate Builders, Land Developers, Mediators association staged a protest in Valluvar Kottam against levying 12% GST for purchasing land or homes.

According to the association spokesperson E. Jaganathan, already people have to pay 7% of the property value as stamp charges and 4% as service charges. “On top of this, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has announced that those buying and selling land will have to pay GST of 12%,” he said.

He said that this will affect the common man who dreams of purchasing a house or land. “We have planned to meet Mr. Jaitley in New Delhi next week and will submit a petition,” he said.
