DMK leader M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday said he was ready to implead himself in connection with the case providing security to the Madras High Court.

Reacting to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s challenge in the Tamil Nadu Assembly that the Chief Justice had not made any adverse remarks against Tamil Nadu police, Mr. Karunanidhi wondered if the Chief Minister would come forward to tender an apology if the Chief Justice owned the news attributed to him. Chief Justice S.K. Kaul during the hearing observed that he had lost confidence in Tamil Nadu Police. “All newspapers have reported his observation,” he said.

Mr. Karunanidhi said the Chief Minister’s assertion that there was no need for a CBI inquiry into the suicide of DSP Vishnupriya had further intensified doubts about the death. “The Chief Minister had not even condoled her death,” he said.
