Several students who had applied for revaluation and re-totalling, and who went to collect their revised class XII marksheets on Saturday, were asked to come back on Monday.
On Friday, the directorate of government examinations said students whose marks had changed after revaluation, could collect their new marksheets at designated distribution points.
Students from Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts were asked to come to Jaigopal Garodia Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Choolaimedu on Saturday.
However, Rani, a student who had applied for re-totalling of her marks in six subjects said that when she arrived, she was asked to go to Presidency Girls Higher Secondary School in Egmore on Monday to collect her marksheet.
“The officials at Jaigopal Garodia said my marksheet was not there. I am very anxious to know if my marks have changed, because I am applying through the sports quota and my counselling session is on June 17,” she said.
Three other students also said they had been asked to come on Monday. “My register number was displayed on the board, but an official said I had to come again on Monday,” another student said.
An official said the delay was possibly because a large number of revised marksheets was being printed and that students who had not received them could collect them from Presidency Girls School, which is the district camp office. Other problems too, persisted with the revaluation process.
One student, Sanjay, said his paper had been revaluated even though he had not paid for it. He was asked to collect his revised marksheet on Saturday and when he arrived at the centre, was asked to pay for the revaluation.
“It was really disappointing. I lost seven marks in Biology after the revaluation, and I have now come down by hundreds of ranks,” he said. A son of a newspaper collector, he is the first one in his family to go to college. Sanjay was one of many, as on Thursday, several students had complained that they realised their marks had been revaluated only after the engineering and medical rank lists were put up. They said while they had submitted a form for revaluation of answer sheets, and downloaded the challan, they had not made a payment at the bank.
A senior official said that since the students had submitted the form for revaluation, the process had gone through and they now had to pay for it and collect their revised marksheets. “We are also checking with the bank,” the official said. This is the first time that the entire process was carried out online.
