The police are on the lookout for three persons from Uttar Pradesh who allegedly cheated 25 youngsters from their State of nearly Rs. 12 lakh by promising them jobs.

The search was launched based on a complaint from Rup Prasad, who worked in Adani power plant in UP. According to him, 24 others and him, who work as fitters, plumbers and as assistants, were approached by three persons — Raj Mohhamed Raja, Anil Sharma and Abrar — with a job proposal.

“The 25 of them were earning just Rs. 10,000 per month. Raj Mohamed Raja, Anil Sharma and Abrar lured them with promises of highly-paid jobs in Dubai. The aspirants travelled with the trio to Chennai for visa-related work,” said Periamet crime inspector G. Harikumar.

On Saturday morning, after reaching Chennai, the trio booked a room in a lodge in Periamet and after taking money from the job aspirants, they left the lodge and did not return,” the inspector said.

Suspecting foul play, the 25 men approached the police and lodged a complaint. “We have secured the profiles of the three suspects from CCTV footage in the lodge,” said the inspector.
