PMK founder S. Ramadoss has asked the Centre to include caste as a category in the 2011 Census without delay. Welcoming the Prime Minister's statement that the Cabinet would take a decision on caste-based Census, he said the reservation in education and employment based on the population of each caste was essential to provide equal opportunities, equitable growth, social justice and safeguard democracy. The PMK took pride in waging the struggle for a caste-based census over the years, he said.
