: PMK founder S. Ramadoss urged the Central government to “teach the government of Karnataka a fitting lesson” for going against the Constitution and not abiding by the Supreme Court verdict on the releasing of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. “The Central government must not be a bystander to the actions of government of Karnataka which has directly acted against the Indian Constitution and Supreme Court. It has refused to accept the verdict to release 6,000 cusecs water to Tamil Nadu. The Central government must ensure that the water is released to Tamil Nadu,” said Dr. Ramadoss.

Condemning the defiance of the Karnataka government, Tamil Maanila Congress leader G.K. Vasan said it had chosen to make the farmers in Tamil Nadu suffer. “The Central government must ensure that the government of Karnataka, which has defied the verdict, releases water to Tamil Nadu,” he said. He further said that the Cauvery Water Management Board must be formed within four weeks’ time.

The convenor of Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Associations, P.R. Pandian, urged the Central government to remove Union Minister Sadananda Gowda from the Cabinet for allegedly making comments that went against the interests of Tamil Nadu. “We condemn the comments made by Mr. Gowda who has said that the Cauvery Management Board should not be formed and that Karnataka must not release water to Tamil Nadu. His comments goes against the Supreme Court verdict and the Indian Constitution,” he said.
