PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Thursday said that the police and the State government deserve the rap on the knuckle from the Madras High Court.

“Despite knowing pretty well that the Railway police have no bandwidth to investigate the case, they were allowed to sit on the case for three days. If not for the High Court’s intervention in the matter, the case would not have been taken up by the Chennai police,” Dr Ramadoss alleged. “This shows how much interest the Tamil Nadu government is showing in catching the culprit,” he added.

Pointing out that the AIADMK’s 2011 election manifesto promised an overall upgrade for the police department, he claimed, “In the last five years, the did not follow through even with a single promise, which included modernisation of police force.” The PMK leader hoped the government would take swift action in the case and ensure women can move around safely.
