When Dinesh Babu got stuck in the rain and could not deliver a pizza to a customer within the promised time limit, it set off a chain of events leading to an attack on the latter.

Dinesh and his father Narayanan were arrested for the incident.

N. Aswathaman, 30, of Mangala Nagar, Porur, ordered pizza for dinner on Tuesday with a leading outlet in his area.

The delivery man, Dinesh Babu, 20, knocked at his door way after his pizza was supposed to be delivered, blaming rain and the resultant traffic jam for the delay.

Mr. Aswathaman refused to accept the pizza and cancelled the order.

He immediately complained to the manager of the outlet over phone about the inordinate delay in receiving the food.

Consequently, Dinesh Babu was chided by his boss who also sacked him for the slip-up.

Enraged, he and his father Narayanan went to Mr. Aswathaman’s house and entered into an argument with him.

Face slashed

As the quarrel intensified, the duo slashed his face using the pin on his badge. Mr. Ashwathaman was admitted to a private hospital. Based on his complaint, the SRMC police arrested Dinesh Babu and Narayanan.

The police also booked cases against them for voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint, and criminal intimidation under provisions of the Indian Penal Code. They were lodged in the Central Prison following an order from a magistrate court.
