PIL seeks stay on TNSCB construction

April 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - CHENNAI:

A PIL petition has been filed in the Madras High Court seeking to grant an interim injunction on the construction of 960 flats by the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) at Madukkarai and Sundakkamuthur villages of Coimbatore district, claiming that necessary permissions have not been obtained.

Vishwanath Swami in his plea sought a direction to the authorities neither to allow anyone to occupy the constructions nor draw further funds from Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission for this project.

A Division Bench comprising Justices T.S. Sivagnanam and K. Ravichandra Baabu directed the authorities to file a counter and posted the matter for further hearing to June 8.
