An array of black and white photographs and a glimpse of the stories behind each of the frames managed to raise over Rs. 3 lakh at a fundraiser auction held on Monday evening at Amethyst.

At ‘People for People’, an initiative of the Citizens’ Run Trust, Eric Auzoux, founder of Citizens’ Run and former director of Alliance Francaise of Madras, not only put up his collection of photographs at the auction, but also narrated the story behind each of the photographs, said Aparna Padmanabhan, trustee.

She said that they usually organise a run, and that this was the first time that they organised an auction to raise funds for a cause. “We raised 3.46 lakhs through the auction and Ranjit Shah, father of Ranvir Shah of Prakriti Foundation donated another Rs. 3.46 lakh towards the cause,” she said.

A press release said the proceeds from the auction will go an NGO, Child that supports orphans and abandoned children of parents with HIV/AIDS; Maithri Educational Charitable Trust that provides financial assistance to underprivileged children to pursue their education, and Suyam Charitable Trust, that runs schools, children’s’ homes and educational projects across Tamil Nadu.
