Phase I medical counselling ends

At the end of the first phase of single window counselling for MBBS and BDS on Saturday, a total of 2,785 seats were filled in MBBS and 78 seats were filled in the government dental college.

While 162 candidates did not turn up for counselling, as many as 639 candidates have been wait-listed. Of those who attended, 26 have opted out of counselling.

The counselling ended with 72 vacancies in self-financing medical institutions. A total of 46 seats remained vacant in the MBC category in Tagore Medical College and Velammal Medical College and Chennai SRM Medical College, Tiruchi. In the government dental college, seven vacancies remained in the MBC category.

In the SC category, a total of 24 seats remained vacant in self-financing institutions, including Karpaga Vinayaka Institute of Medical Sciences, Salem, Velammal, Tagore and Chennai SRM.

Selection secretary G. Selvarajan said the date for the next phase of counselling will be announced mid-July.
